Nu Rhythm II
by Hikaru Merquise
Another day
Filled with false joy
And crumbling hopes
That just won't survive
Through the test
That time provides
Wearing everything down
Like erosion does a rock
Yet the only joy
We have are in the dreams
Of our future child...
Little Kaihalya...
Like a rose in bloom
The joy that follows
Lightens our hearts
Like a newborn star in the sky
But I don't want her
To see me like this
On the day she's born
To see her father weak and distraught
To see the shells
He constructed throughout his life
The walls which isolated him
From the rest of mainstream society
To see him as a hollowed being
Worn by the trials of eons
The eons he's seen go by
The ones he's partaken in
Death has kicked me
Racism and discrimination
Both stabbed me in the heart
But idiocy did the rest
I'm sorry Little One
I don't mean to burden you
At such an early age
But there's a question I ask
Could you forgive
A man who has destroyed hearts
Who has wounded many
Who has corrupted others
Someone who doubts his own
Self-worth...
Someone that feels he's
Always weak and fragile...
Someone who bathed
In the chaotic darkness
Fleeing from the light
Only to repeat the cycle again
Someone who holds an eternal grudge
Against the world...
His enemies...
Himself...
Flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood
I ask of you even though you're not born yet
Can you ever forgive me
Your father to be...

warm and fuzzy???
well... i didn't have *quite* the same effect on me...
it made me feel sad... because there is so much strife in relationships... and yet it's true that it is something of a comfort to hear someone conscious of the problem... addressing it...
wow... nice...
